What are Playbooks used for?
Playbooks are interactive web-based tools that provide Civil Engineers with step-by-step guidance and other helpful resources related to major Civil Engineering job functions. Playbooks are continually updated as processes and policies change and should be considered "living documents". Playbooks align to, but do not supercede or conflict with, existing policies and regulations.
Playbooks Provide:
How do I update or create a Playbook?
Playbooks can be created or updated by the Playbook owners via the help of CE Playbooks Tech Writing Team. To request Playbook development support, submit a request through the “Contact Us” page. See the services offered by clicking here.
How can I suggest a correction to playbook content?
The best way to request a correction to playbook content is to contact the Playbook Action Officer, whose email address is provided with each Playbook in the Playbook Library. One can also submit the request through our contact form, and the request will be forwarded to the appropriate person(s).
Who "owns" Playbooks?
The field! Playbook content and improvement ideas are generated by civil engineers from all levels. For content management purposes, each Playbook is aligned under the CE Governance structure to a Policy Group and assigned a Playbook Champion and Action Officer. Any changes submitted through the feedback function are adjudicated at this level, and submitters are notified of the disposition. Newer Playbooks now list Playbook development contributors who can be contacted for more information. The AFCEC Functional Management Office (FMO) oversees new Playbook development and maintenance activities.
Do Playbooks replace existing regulations?
Playbooks do not replace Air Force policies and regulations, which tell us what must be done. Playbooks ensure we execute these requirements with standardized processes. While policies and regulations tell us the "what," Playbooks tell us the "how."
